This commissioned mural transforms a private outdoor patio into a serene and inviting space. Featuring a harmonious blend of native Australian flora and fauna, it highlights the Tawny Frogmouth — a nocturnal bird symbolising harmony, resilience, and the beauty of camouflage. Surrounding the bird are vivid Templetonia blooms, delicate frangipani flowers, and lush foliage. A subtle semi-circle anchors the composition, symbolising the sun or moon, reflecting the bird’s nocturnal nature, and uniting themes of life cycles and renewal. Hand-painted with acrylics, the mural employs layered techniques for depth and dimension, with careful attention to light and shadow to enhance the bird and create a dynamic focal point.
