Installation Art, 2022 A site-specific collaborative project with Rhys Cousins
LOCATION: Building 10 Casey Building + Swanston Library
DIMENSION: 7800mm x 4700mm
MATERIAL: Tyvek Wristbands; Spray Paint
RMIT University launched an art competition to use 43,000 wristbands recycled from Open Day 2021 (which was interrupted by the lockdown). Interpreting the brief provided; exploring the nature of paper-thin materials; emphasising the metaphorical implication of a Möbius strip, Rhys and Emma had built a system out of wristbands to create this suspended installation through experimentation and collaboration. A Möbius strip is a twist with joined ends, each is one-sided and only has a single continuous surface. As wristbands, they interweaved to create a spectrum of radiance, symbolic of rising interconnectedness.
